When Life Goes Thump...

A great evening of food with a few friends --other couples who are pastoring local churches, too.  First time at Red Lobster for a number of us -- thanks to gift cards we were using given to us by people in our congregations.  Thank you!  My wife and I were invited to go along with another couple.  After a very uneventful ride to Reading and a great meal, we headed home.  Very quickly after getting onto 222, we noticed a thumping coming from one of the tires.  It didn't go away and since they had a flat tire recently, the driver decided to stop and check it out. No flats -- tires all looked fine. We proceeded home, needing to drive about 45-50 mph to keep the thumping from, well...thumping. After exiting 222, we had a short drive to our rendezvous, needing to drive slower and slower since the thumping was getting louder and louder. We parked the vehicle, got into ours and took our friends to get their other vehicle.  The next day my friend called and told me he looked at his vehicle in the day light -- looked a little more closely at the tire.  Turns out the thumping was caused by all 6 of his lug nuts being loose -- he could turn them all with his hand. Wow! Thank you, Jesus, for keeping a protecting hand or a guardian angel close to that tire.

Life will go "thump" at times.  We will know things aren't right, things will feel like they're falling apart on us -- maybe they even will.  But after that experience, I'm reminded that God knows all about the thumps -- and offering us the exact amount of protection we need so that we feel the thump only as much as God intends.
